Introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands Collection

For over 60 years, the TAG Heuer Carrera has remained one of the Swiss watch manufacturer’s most iconic designs. It was first launched back in 1963 by CEO Jack Heuer with the intention of releasing an uncluttered and perfectly harmonious design for drivers of the racetrack. Decades later and the readability of the Carrera has yet to be questioned and the company’s obsession with such is reimagined in a total of 13 TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands watches.

“Since its first introduction more than two decades ago, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands has become a centrepiece of our offering, and we are delighted to introduce a new line that ties the watch firmly to its illustrious roots, while projecting bold modernity and refinement. With 4 variations and 13 new timepieces, our clients and collectors will undoubtedly find the TAG Heuer Carrera that uniquely matches their lifestyle while enjoying its signature understated design and unrivalled legibility, features which have made it the lasting success it is.” – Frédéric Arnault, TAG Heuer’s CEO.

Alongside the new generation of TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands watches, the luxury brand has announced the signing of world-famous actor Ryan Gosling. Famed for his brooding wheelman in Drive and the all-dancing all-singing Oscar-nominated role in La La Land, Gosling has proven his resistant to conformity, choosing to defy categorisation and be fearless with his work. It was his passion and drive that made him the perfect candidate as the next TAG Heuer ambassador promoting the new range of Carrera Day Date 41mm, the Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm, the Carrera Date 39mm and the TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm watches.

“I appreciate its timeless design. I like clean and simple design generally. Growing up, we lived on a pretty tight budget. I gravitated towards things that were simple and timeless so I didn’t have to think about keeping up with trends.” – Ryan Gosling

TAG Heuer Carrera Day Date 41mm

Leading the new TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands watch collection is a quartet of Carrera Day Date 41mm watches. All four are powered by the Calibre 5 automatic winding movement promising 26 jewels, rapid date correction, a 4Hz frequency and a power reserve of 38 hours. We’re also provided with sleek skeletonised hands for the hours, minutes and seconds and a double day and date window at 3 o’clock. Compared to previous Carrera designs, the date frame has been reimagined to be slimmer and the hands and indexes boast a refiner integration. As for the cases, they’re all engineered from stainless steel and come equipped with a standard crown at 3 o’clock, domed and bevelled sapphire crystal and a 100 metre water resistant rating.

Their differences lie in their strap and dial designs. The TAG Heuer Carrera Day Date 41mm watch under reference WBN2010.BA0640 opts for a black sunray dial with classic rhodium plated hardware while model WBN2013.BA0640 boasts the same black backdrop but with stunning rose gold plated hands and indexes. There’s also a blue-dialled variant under WBN2012.BA0640 and a silver sunray brushed dial for WBN2011.FC6484. The former three all choose a new H-shaped bracelet in stainless steel while the latter silver dial elects a handsome brown alligator leather strap.

TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm

The TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm watch is one of the more surprising releases in the new Carrera Three Hands collection. The wording “Twin Time” refers to a historical reference from the 1950’s which hadn’t been seen in the brand’s portfolio for several decades, instead being labelled as a GMT until 2004. For the new design, we’re treated to a single reference, WBN201A.BA0640, which boasts an elegant and sporty design highlighted by a blue sunray-brushed dial with a unique silver and blue flange for indicating day and night. At the centre, the dial also features bolder hour and minute hands and a refined Twin-Time hand tip in red.

Fuelling the GMT function is the TAG Heuer Calibre 7 automatic winding movement with 25 rubies, a frequency of 4Hz, rapid date correction and a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The movement and it’s rose gold-coloured oscillating mass can be seen through the exhibition case back of the 41mm stainless steel case. The rest of the TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm’s construction follows suit to the piece above with a 100 metre water resistance, domed sapphire crystal glass and a fine-brushed polished finish.

TAG Heuer Carrera Date 39mm

This design is similarly available in four iterations all featuring the new stainless steel case, refined lugs, 100 metre water resistant rating and domed sapphire crystal glass. The complications centred at the front of the sunray brushed dials are also powered by the same Calibre 5 movement with a 38 hour power reserve. The four examples include WBN2110.BA0639 with a black dial and rhodium accents, WBN2113.BA0639 with a black dial and rose gold hardware, WBN2112.BA0639 with a blue dial and rhodium hands and indexes and the silver-dialled WBN2111.BA0639. The last instalment in the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands collection is the Carrera Date 29mm. Designed with those with smaller wrists in mind, the four new models promise the same new case and refined lugs sitting on the wrist at 29mm in diameter. The fully stainless steel architecture also delivers an integrated date window at 6 o’clock and a duo of stunning models dressed in scintillating diamond indexes. The cases all feature sapphire crystal glass with double anti-reflective treatment, 100 metre water resistant ratings and alternate finished H-shaped links for the bracelet. Powering the ladies’ models is the Calibre 9 automatic movement with 18 rubies, a 40 hour power reserve and a 4Hz frequency.

As you’ve probably guessed, the four TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm watches differ for their dials. Reference WBN2410.BA0621 glows for its white mother of pearl dial presented with classic rhodium hour markers and hands while model WBN2412.BA0621 features the same pearl centrepiece but with a total of 11 diamonds as indices.
