TAG Heuer Launch their first ever Skeletonised Carrera: Basel 2015 Release!

“The subject of continuous improvement and optimisation over five years…..”

tag 4Swiss brand TAG Heuer has announced the launch of their first ever skeletonised Carrera – the TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01. Using a partially skeletonised sibling to the in-house 1887 calibre, the Heuer 01 is the first seedling of a new movement generation.

The point of the skeletonised structure, like with all past and present Swiss watches stripped of their outer costumes, is to allow an insight into the internal habitat of these miniature factories – but this novice captivates with exceptional individuality. The range warrants for a dynamic modification and this innovative exposed-like concept wraps the collection up quite neatly. The new addition contains all of the distinctive genetics that a pure breed Carrera beholds. With that said, nevertheless there are a number of features that set this model apart from the older generation. Firstly the date box bordered in a striking red hue offers an insight into the interior of the mechanism, together with a stripped    chronograph bridge,  openworked black rotor and a red column wheel, symbolising a bold anchor. The new collection has betag 3en named “The Backbone” as coincidentally the construction has been developed in honour of the brand’s founder. Not only does the clean new design support the new calibre and structure, but an entirely new case has been cleverly thought out to not only comprise of a number of high quality materials, but to also achieve a more accessible price point for its collectors. The material is made from 12 light titanium pieces that are built in a modular construction as opposed to the singular piece that has long been used throughout the culture of TAG Heuer’s life. The new core property of the titanium performs as a shock absorber. The reason for the brand’s decision to move away from the monobloc construction is to open up a greater range of possibilities for future colours, textures, treatments and finishes using new materials. As a result, we are likely to see increased diversity within lug, bezel, crown and caseback options in the future design of TAG watches. Additional features of the watch are the tricomplex display, the chronograph hours counter situated at the 6 o’clock, the second counter at the 9 o’clock and the minutes subdial at the 12 o’clock position. The Heuer 01 offers 50 hours power reserve and is resistant to water depths of 100 metres.

The avant-guard muscular case and technical aesthetic of the TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01 is a demonstration of new boss Jean-Claude Biver’s vision of the brands direction towards yielding new prospects.
