Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G Watch Review

We can’t get enough of Grand Seiko at the moment and their new Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G watch has got the whole industry talking. This gorgeous limited edition is part of the brand’s Grand Seiko Sport collection and has been designed especially for the sophisticated traveller in need of unbeatable precision and excellent durability.

Immediately noticeable is the rich burgundy coloured dial detailed with a subtle sunburst pattern. The deep red shade has been inspired by the polished mahogany of a yacht’s decking while the gold accented GMT hand makes it perfect for international travel. The dial of the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G watch is also equipped with an orange coloured power reserve indicator at 9 o clock which is designed to be reminiscent of the sun coming over the horizon.

Of course, what everyone wants to know is what calibre does the new Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G watch use? Well we can confirm it is the 9R66 automatic Spring Drive movement which boasts an impressive 3-day power reserve and a handy GMT function. Grand Seiko claims their 9R66 calibre promises ±1 second per day – or ±15 seconds per month – but we have known many Grand Seiko Spring Drive owners claim it to be even better than this.

The stainless steel case measures to 44mm in size and comes equipped with a striking black rotating bezel decorated in 24 hour markers. Designed for lasting wear, the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G watch has a 200-metre water resistance, a 4 o clock positioned crown, enhanced shock resistance and a temperate resistant calibre meaning that this immaculate timepiece can withstand almost anything thrown at it.

The Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G comes with two strap choices, a classic stainless steel bracelet with a double safety folding clasp and an orange reinforced silicon strap perfect for wear around water, not only for its water resistance but also for its lighter weight.  On the case back of the timepiece you can find the famous Grand Seiko lion emblem alongside the limited edition serial number out of 600 pieces.

Unfortunately, we do have to wait until November for the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE245G watch to be released, but it will still be a nice early Christmas present for us all. In the meantime, you can place a pre-order for the model here to ensure you are one of the very first to get your hands on it.
