Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Diver Bronze Watch Review

This Bell and Ross Diver Bronze watch was revealed at this year’s Baselworld to follow the lead of their popular BR 03 92 Black which got everyone talking for its unanticipated design concept. Bell and Ross are renowned for their square watches but last year when they hinted at a square shaped divers watch everyone was understandably sceptical. The main feature of a divers watch is the unidirectional bezel which can surely only be found on a round watch. Yet, when Bell and Ross unveiled the BR 03 92 we were quickly convinced it was one of the best designs the brand had ever conceived.

This isn’t the first time the brand has released a bronze timepiece with their Bronze Skull watch being a magnificent addition to their BR 01 collection but the Bell and Ross Diver Bronze is the first bronze divers watch by the brand. There is clearly a growing interest in bronze watches at the moment with Oris also releasing a second Carl Brashear watch later this month. This just goes to show how popular bronze watches are becoming.

The beauty of bronze watches and the Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Diver Bronze watch is that it will age and change colour over time. When exposed to moisture in the air and pH levels in perspiration, the bronze will develop a natural patina meaning there will be 999 limited edition pieces each with its own unique case bespoke to the wearer. The unidirectional bezel with 60 minute scale is also crafted from bronze as are the crown guards that sit alongside a black rubber coated crown.

To pair with the striking colour of the 42mm case is a black dial set with gold plated applique indices and skeletonised hands filled with Superluminova. Housed above the dial is sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment which provides superb legibility over the hour, minute and seconds hand and small date window at 4 o clock. The automatic calibre BR-CAL.302 is used to power these functions and offers an impressive power reserve of 38 hours.

This luxurious timepiece is undoubtedly one of the most memorable watches from Baseworld this year. With only a limited amount of pieces being released this June, we highly recommend placing a pre-order for one as soon as possible.
