Bremont Endurance Limited Edition Watch Review

There are a lot of watch brands out there claiming to have ‘the most durable’ or ‘the most fit-for-purpose’ watch but it is certainly more convincing when these watches are put to the test. This is exactly what Bremont have done with their new Endurance Limited Edition watch working alongside record-breaking polar explorer Ben Saunders.

In November 2017, Saunders set out to make the world’s first solo and unsupported crossing of the Antarctica with the Bremont Endurance Limited Edition watch strapped to his wrist. This west-to-east route was the very same course taken by famous explorer Ernest Shackleton who received worldwide notoriety when he rescued his entire crew after his ship ‘Endurance’ was crushed in the sea ice.

Saunders was keen to be involved in the design process of the timepiece and insisted on many of its stunning features. He requested the case to be made from titanium for lightweight advantages and that the exquisite movement be on display through an exhibition case back. With these instructions, Bremont created a striking 43mm titanium watch with a flat crystal case back that could reach depths of 500 metres while still being able to withstand all the extreme climate conditions the Antarctic threw at it.

The aesthetic of the Bremont Endurance Limited Edition watch has been done beautifully. The striking black dial and bold orange accents have been chosen specifically to provide additional clarity and legibility against the stark white snow of the Antarctica. The timepiece is also equipped with a bi-directional rotating bezel with compass heading markers and a bright orange GMT hand serving as an essential navigational feature.

The COSC certified BE-93-2AE automatic movement was a perfect choice not only for its useful functions but for its impressive 42 hour power reserve and stunning Bremont moulded skeletonised decorated motor. The large Superluminova coated hour and minute hands and rounded indices also assist in the dial’s easy to read appeal. Finally, there are two strap options to choose from: a sporty bright orange NATO strap or a more sophisticated titanium metal bracelet.

With only 300 pieces of the Bremont Endurance Limited Edition watch being released at the end of this month, we highly recommend placing a pre-order for one as soon as you can. For more information on this watch and where to get your hands on your own, click here.
