Bell and Ross BR V2 94 Racing Bird Limited Edition Watch Review

From their Aero-GT to their Belly Tanker watches, Bell and Ross seem to be obsessed with designing watches influenced by futuristic and powerful machines. For this September, the Swiss watch manufacturer have taken to the skies and designed an aircraft capable of competing in the Reno Air Races, and with it is the release of a new limited edition watch – the Bell and Ross BR V2 94 Racing Bird.

The Bell and Ross Racing Bird plane is just as bold as its counterpart timepiece, both boasting a classic and sporty aesthetic. Almost everything about the aircraft is mirrored in the design of the Bell and Ross BR V2 94 Racing Bird watch. The crisp white dial matches the outer shell of the plane while the orange tips on the wings and blue painted hull and tail pair with the accents on the dial.  When you look even closer, the orange chronograph seconds hand is beautifully detailed with a striking Racing Bird counterweight.

Limited to 999 pieces, the Bell and Ross BR V2 94 Racing Bird watch is presented with a modest 41mm stainless steel case which has been satin polished and paired with ultra-curved sapphire crystal glass and a blue aluminium bezel with a tachymeter scale. Equipped on the side of the case is a screw down crown and chronograph push buttons, all water resistant to 100 metres.

Unlike the its propeller driven counterpart equipped with a V12 Rolls Royce Falcon engine, the Bell and Ross BR V2 94 Racing Bird watch is powered by the BR-CAL.301 automatic calibre. This equally powerful movement equips the timepiece with hour and minute hands, a small seconds dial at 3 o clock, a 30 minute timer at 9 o clock, a central chronograph seconds hand and a neatly added date window at 3 o clock almost camouflaged beside the seconds dial.

For anyone looking for a bold and contemporary timepiece with a modern twist on a traditional pilots design then the Bell and Ross BR V2 94 Racing Bird watch is for you. The watch is currently available to order on either a stainless-steel bracelet at £3,650 or blue calfskin leather strap for a more affordable £3,400.
