TAG Heuer and motorsport powerhouse Porsche launch their second timepiece as part of their new partnership, this time a sporty, yellow-accented limited edition chronograph suitably named the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition.
The news of TAG Heuer and Porsche uniting forces back in the autumn of last year was a surprise to no one. The pair are both dynamos of the motorsport industry; Porsche vehicles are on every racetrack and road around the world while TAG Heuer have one of the strongest ties to the sport than any other luxury watch manufacturer. More than anything however, both names are united by the Carrera. In 1963, car enthusiast and great-grandson of TAG Heuer’s founder, Jack Heuer launched the TAG Heuer Carrera watch collection named after the Carrera Panamericana race, reputed to be one of the most dangerous in the world. The same race also inspired Porsche who named a model in its honour. The 911 Carrera and the TAG Heuer Carrera watch have since become true icons for car and watch enthusiasts around the world, parallel in their design, power and precision. Now, after a successful year of collaboration, the two brands return to the starting line with their second release, the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition.

The TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition is based on the TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph but is enhanced by a bold black and yellow palette inspired by Porsche‘s racing yellow pantone, reserved by the manufacturer for the sportiest of its vehicles. Bright yellow is spotted on the Posche logo on the bezel as well as lacquered onto the crown, the tip of the chronograph seconds hand and accents of the subsidiary counters. The Superluminova treated Arabic numerals and hour and minute hands also glow yellow in the dark.
The rest of the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche watch is finished in black including a black DLC coated stainless steel case, black ceramic tachymeter bezel and a black DLC screw in crown. The case itself sits on the wrist at 44mm in diameter, much like previous Carrera Chronograph references, and offers a water resistance of 100 metres. Securing it to the wrist is a textile-inspired leather strap detailed with yellow double stitching to evoke the same detailing of the seat upholstery seen in Porsche cars. The leather has also been treated to produce a technical fabric effect and is secured by a black DLC steel folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.

Also in black is the dial of the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition which up close delivers a unique shimmering texture inspired by the metallic bodywork of Porsche cars. In contrast, two black subsidiary dials for the 12 hours and 30 minutes counter are finished in an asphalt-effect to evoke the texture of the race course. Powering the chronograph complication is the in-house Calibre Heuer 02, a movement manufactured entirely at the TAG Heuer factory in Chevenez. It consist of 168 parts including a column wheel and a vertical clutch and offers chronometric performance and an impressive power reserve of 80 hours. The movement also includes a redesigned oscillating rotor, just like that of the 2021 edition, which pays homage to the Porsche steering wheel. The TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche watch is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces and with each sale, the watch will come in a custom-made box in the black and yellow colours of the 2022 edition.
