Luxury watch manufacturer Breitling and coveted car brand Bentley Motors have renewed their partnership once again to bring us the new Breitling Premier Bentley B01 Chronograph 42 watch. This gorgeous timepiece is one for the ages with a unique green racing dial, the extraordinary chronometer certified Breitling 01 mechanical movement and some stunning design details inspired by past Bentley cars.
Breitling and Bentley have worked together since 2003 when Bentley Motors entrusted the Swiss watch brand to design an onboard clock for their flagship model, the Continental GT. However, it seems the car and watch manufacturer’s history succeeds even that with a personal connection tracing back to the 1940’s. Willy Breitling, the inventor of the second chronograph pusher and the grandson of Breitling founder Leon Breitling, was a huge Bentley fan and was known to have owned several Bentleys that he would drive on the roads between Geneva and Le Chaux-de-Fonds.
Breitling CEO Georges Kern has also announced his excitement for the continued partnership commenting: “Bentley and Breitling share so many values. Both companies are known for quality, performance, and design excellence, and both can build on powerful historical legacies. It’s an ideal partnership, and, after more than 15 years, it is a pleasure to add another chapter to it.”
In the past, Breitling offered a separate Breitling for Bentley watch collection which was considered by many as one of the brand’s greatest and most successful collaborations. However, this time around, Breitling and Bentley have decided that instead of isolating their partnership into one single collection, they will integrate special Bentley editions into Breitling’s core collections, the first being the new Breitling Premier Bentley B01 Chronograph 42 watch as part of the new Premier range.
Now let’s get into some detail about the new Breitling Premier Bentley B01 Chronograph 42 watch. This stunning 100 metre water resistant timepiece boasts a 42mm by 13.65mm stainless steel case equipped with a non-screw locked crown and cambered sapphire crystal glass which is glare-proofed on both sides. This gorgeous edition also showcases a unique transparent caseback, something that only a handful of Breitling watches seem to have these days. Through the sapphire crystal glass, you can see a metalized Bentley logo and all the intricate workings of the Breitling 01 mechanical movement.
The case of the Breitling Premier Bentley B01 Chronograph 42 watch shows off some intricate detailing including an engraved plate decorated with ‘Bentley’ on the side which is inspired by the dashboard of the historic supercharged 1929 “Blower” Bentley car. The bold green racing dial is also adorned with sleek steel hands and indices, subtle red accents and the gorgeous traditional ‘B’ logo at 12 o clock. In addition, the Breitling 01 chronometer certified mechanical movement equips the dial with hour and minutes function, a chronograph central seconds hand, seconds counter, chronograph minute counter, date window at 6 o clock and an impressive power reserve of 70 hours.
The Breitling Premier Bentley B01 Chronograph 42 watch is being released on two strap options, a green calfskin leather strap (£6,700) and a traditional stainless-steel bracelet (£7,000), both available to order here for delivery mid-November. Breitling have also hinted to a release of a special limited edition watch to celebrate Bentley’s 100-year anniversary during 2019, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that!
