A review of The Muhle Glashutte M29 Classic Einzeiger: Baselworld 2015 release!

Muhle Glashutte’s latest rendezvous at Baselworld 2015 saw the launch of the new M29 Classic Einzeiger. A one handed mesmerising wonder with a high precision scale; it is just the third addition to join the innovative Muhle Glashutte M29 Classic family. Laced with an understated luxury, the new masterpiece sees a coming together of minimalistic and unobtrusive designs fused with practical reliability.

The functionality of the Muhle Glashutte M29 Einzeiger watch harks back to the original one-handed mem29 1asuring gauges by R. Muhle &  Sohn, yet also closely resembles similar versions of its modern ancestors; those with a centre second hand and a small second hand. Compared to these latter adaptations which presented the time down to the second, the new M29 model takes a more relaxed approach to time reading, providing the hour of the day at a quickglance. The Muhle Glashutte M29 Classic Einzeiger adapts a sense of simplicity in more ways than one – not only does the watch’s functionality remain firmly focussed on a relaxed approach to life, but the clear dial layout works in complete harmony with its sensible design, evoking sophistication infused with an expert, contemporary blend of engineering. The Muhle Glashutte timepiece’s slow interpretation of time is presented via an elegant selection of soft, warming tones; the subtlety of the chocolaty brown shades melting through from the leather strap, contrasting beautifully with the vintage cream backdrop of the dial encapsulates an artistic side to the brand’s creative direction. The new M29’s unique blend of organic colours completes a stunning visual experience, a consistent theme that can also be experienced through the sapphire crystal glass back of the watch, allowing a surrealist plunge into a world of transparency. One aspect in particular which has impressed me about the new addition is that considering the time is represented in the form of one simple hand, the Muhle Glashutte watch making company has worked cleverly to ensure that its natural processes are executed with utmost precision. The watchmakers have selected a niche blend of exquisite instrumental tools to ensure that the intricate workings sitting inside the external capsule work harmoniously in perfect unison with eachother –  a factor in which Muhle Glashutte have never compem29 2nsated on. A fortifying coat of stainless steel armour protects the modified Sellita SW200-1 movement to deliver impeccable precision whilst its surrounding airtight seal promises 100m water resistance also. The Muhle Glashutte masterpiece of a watch is equipped with a dual scale displayed on the inner ring for quarter hour scales and a second echelon on the flange. By taking a closer look at the wristwatch, you can see that ten minute intervals are identified by elongated dashes whilst the more precise two minute intervals are represented by smaller, more delicate indices.  The watch’s overall splendour is further enhanced by the injection of red hues to the hour indexes and the window trim of the date display which sits nobly at the 3 o’clock location, hinting at the Muhle Glashutte brand’s thirst for a bold effect. As the bezel is non-functional, only a slim edge of stainless steel is shown in brushed effect, complimented by a distinct polished surface of its vertical and chamfered edges allowing for a dressier occasion if required. The 42mm wide case delivers unimposing dimensions that conform to the wrist with ease, enabling the wearer to enjoy a journey through the historical hands of time of a prestigious family-run business. The Muhle Glashutte M29 Classic Einzeiger is available in both the leather strap version at £1270.00 or the bracelet version for £1360.00. For more information on both models please continue here.
