Parmigiani Fleurier Unveils NEW Tonda GT Bi-Colour Watches

Parmigiani Fleurier proved their prowess for engineering luxury sports watches with the release of the Tonda GT last year. Today, the design returns, this time leaving behind the chronograph complication and keeping it simple with a classic panda-style layout with small seconds and a big date. Meet the new series of Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT Bi-Colour watches…

Everybody loves a panda dial, a term used to describe a luxury watch with a pure white face and contrasting black counters. Although it’s usually reserved for chronographs, the new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT Bi-Colour is suitably awarded the expression with a gorgeous white “Guilloché Clou triangulaire” backdrop and striking black accents found on the small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, large double boxed date window at 12 o’clock and box-shaped hour markers. The colourway follows in the footsteps of the Tondagraph GT chronographs launched previously which were also offered in two executions: the first in luxurious 18 carat gold and the second in polished stainless steel. Each variation of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT Bi-Colour watch is also presented on a matching metal integrated bracelet or a black rubber strap.

The cases of each Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT Bi-Colour watch follow suit to each other, no matter whether you opt for the more opulent 18 carat rose gold case or the more classic stainless steel profile. Both measure to 42 millimetres in diameter, 11.2 millimetres in thickness and offer satin-brushed and polished finishing. Characteristic to the Tonda GT series is the bezel, unique in that it’s stepped with fluting on the outer ring and then smooth as it slopes down towards the crystal. It’s a trait characteristics of the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric collection, a family of luxury dress watches. The cases are also finished with a screw in crown at 3’clock promising of a 100 metre water resistant, a rating worthy of its sports watch status.

Turn the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT Bi-Colour watch over and you’re greeted to a stunning sapphire crystal glass back to match the anti-reflective treated glass protecting the dial. The back delivers an unprecedented view of the automatic winding movement within, the in-house PF044 calibre. It’s not a new movement, as we’ve seen it in previous Tonda GT models, however its construction is still impressive. It features a total of 274 components including a skeletonized, 22ct rose gold, sand-blasted and satin-finished oscillating weight detailed with traditional Cotes de Geneve and perlage decoration.

On the front end, the Swiss made calibre provides the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT Bi-Colour watches with classic hands for the hours and minutes, a small seconds dial and the two large box-shaped date windows at the top. We are also promised a power reserve of 45 hours. The hours and minutes are beautifully displayed by skeletonised delta-shaped hands which on the steel variant is finished in polished silver and the rose gold model in gold to match. Corresponding hand-applied rhodium plated indexes mark the hours in contrast to the white guilloché clou triangulaire backdrop.
