DOXA Sub 600T Pacific Limited Edition Watch Review

We’ve reviewed several DOXA watches over the past few years, most notably their best-selling Sub 200 and Sub 300 references characterised by their cushion-shaped cases and bold coloured dials. One design we had yet to see in person was that of the DOXA Sub 600T, and understandably so, since it’s release remained in the 1980’s. Yet here we are, 40 years on, and the Swiss dive watch manufacturer has revived the angular aesthetic to bring us a new limited edition release: the DOXA Sub 600T Pacific.

First founded in 1889, DOXA began as a maker of dress watches before deciding in the late 1960’s to dedicate it’s entire manufacture to producing professional diving instruments. Their reputation within the diving world has remained a solid one, having consulted with various navy dive teams and even legendary divers like that of Jacques Cousteau. Their most significant collection, the DOXA Sub was released in 1967 and it introduced radical innovations to the diving world that still remain the benchmark for professional and military divers today. Up until the 1980’s, the DOXA Sub collection was filled with round and cushion-shaped watches. Then, the Doxa SUB 600T arrived and with it so did a sharp, angled, square-like shaped case. For the new DOXA Sub 600T Pacific Limited Edition, this very same profile is revived while retaining all the familiar elements of the modern-day DOXA formula.

The case of the DOXA Sub 600T Pacific watch feels really nice, sitting at 40mm in diameter and offering a slightly more “serious” look than its rounded counterparts. It also wears incredibly light on the wrist helped by its titanium construction, a material used rarely by the luxury watch brand. The titanium is fully brushed with a matte finish and paired with sharp, squared-off lugs and a broad tapering chamfer. The bezel preserves the brand’s classic DNA with a notched finish, a bold blue ceramic insert and a twin depth-minute display in orange and white. As the limited edition’s name suggests, the off-set crown at 4 o’clock and domed sapphire glass ensure a water resistance of 600 metres.

We’ve seen a handful of blue DOXA Sub watches before, but the cobalt blue used across the DOXA Sub 600T Pacific Limited Edition is entirely new. This colour and it’s “Pacific” nickname takes inspiration from the Australian ocean and marks the design’s release in collaboration with DOXA’s Australian partner Time+Tide. The shade of blue makes its way across the ceramic insert bezel, the rubber strap and the dial. For easy legibility, the dial is also home to white Superluminova inserts on the hour markers and on the hour, minutes and seconds hands. Accents of orange can also be spotted on the minutes hand and on the outline of the mix of diamond and rounded hour markers.

The movement running the hours, minutes and seconds function is the Sellita SW 200-1 automatic winding calibre which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a decent power reserve of 38 hours. Its intricate construction is kept hidden behind a closed case back wonderfully engraved with an assortment of decorations including the image of DOXA’s fish logo against a wave pattern background and a reference to the collaboration with Time+Tide.

The DOXA Sub 600T Pacific watch is a limited edition run of 200 pieces and is expected to be released towards the end of October. If you’d like to pre-order this model in advance or learn more about it, head over to the Jura Watches website here or get in touch with the team at 01335 453453.
