Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass Limited Edition Watch Review

In their quest to make the ultimate aviation watch, Bell and Ross have hit the nail on the head with the stunning new Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass Limited Edition. This miraculous creation takes its inspiration from the myriad dials that assist pilots while in the air and its impeccable design looks incredibly good on the wrist. Continuing to follow through with their famous principles of precision, legibility, reliability and performance, the BR03-92 Bi Compass really has impressed us.

Bell and Ross are no strangers to the world of piloting, and they have proven that there is still plenty of aviation history to be explored. The Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass watch has been inspired by a particular dial found on the complicated-looking dashboard on an airplane, the Radio Compass. This striking device is decorated in an unmissable turquoise blue colour,  also referred to as “Munsell green” in the aviator world. This bright, almost luminous colour also adorns the Bell and Ross Bi Compass watch bringing unbeatable legibility to the wrist.

Legibility continues to be made a priority on the Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass Limited Edition with a breathtaking multi-level aspect bought to the dial. It is designed with a raised outer edge, Superluminova coated numerals, indices and hands and a multi layered date window between 4 and 5 o’ clock. The dial also comes decorated in matte black, just like that of the Rado Compass that inspired it, as well as large Arabic numerals, boldly sized hands and a central hour disc.

Housing the dial is crisp sapphire crystal glass which has been treated with an anti-reflective coating and assists in the Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass with scratch resistance. Unfortunately, there is no transparent glass case back allowing us to see into the mechanical workings of the watch, however instead we are greeted to a special matte black ceramic case which has been engraved with the limited edition number out of 999 pieces. The case of the Bell and Ross Bi Compass Limited Edition has also been made water resistant to 100 metres.

Powering the Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass watch is the BR-CAL.302 automatic movement, a mechanical calibre which we have seen many times before within the Bell and Ross Aviation collection. The trusty BR-CAL.302 automatic movement is based on the Sellita SW300-1 and provides a frequency of 28,800 vph, hour, minutes seconds and date function, a power reserve of 38 hours and comes equipped with a total of 25 jewels.

As huge fans of Bell and Ross watches, we can’t help but automatically fall in love with this Bell and Ross BR 03 92 Bi Compass Limited Edition. It’s aviation inspired dial and instantly recognisable case was an immediate winner for us and with a retail price of only £2,990, there’s really not much stopping us from ordering one ourselves!
