Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 Watch Review

Being referred to as the new ‘Samurai’, the brand new Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 watch has got everyone excited for its released date in September. Boasting a design very similar to the sold out Seiko Samurai SRPB09K1 watch, fans of the original are going mad that they can now get their hands on a comparable looking timepiece.

I could list the similarities between the new Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 watch and the sold out Seiko Samurai SRPB09K1 for paragraphs. They both retail at £399, with a 43.8mm stainless steel case, a blue unidirectional bezel, the 4R35 automatic movement and a stainless steel bracelet. The only real difference that I can see is that the Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 is not a limited edition like the Samurai and also doesn’t boast the exact same tone of blue on the bezel. Aside from that, if you were one of those unlucky customers to miss out on the SRPB09K1 then it is certainly worth getting your hands on the new variant.

Continuing with the aesthetic of the SRPB49K1, we can see the familiar retro cushion shaped stainless steel case and the large luminescent hands making a come back. In particular, the large arrow shaped hour hand and the easily legible date aperture have always been a favourite with us. Finally for those who don’t know much about the 4R35 automatic movement, it showcases 24 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 41 hours.

Although the Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 watch is not a limited model, we believe it’s still going to be fairly difficult to get your hands on one. As Seiko has proved in the past, production can become slow when a particular model becomes highly popular. So, although the Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 watch isn’t released until September, we highly recommend placing a pre-order deposit on one while you can. This not only guarantees you getting the model, but it also means you will be one of the very first to take delivery. You can pre order the Seiko Prospex SRPB49K1 watch here.
