British watch brand Bremont launches two new stylish Supermarine S300 models inspired by dramatically contrasting coastlines reflected in each colour palette. Named the Bremont Supermarine S300 Vigo and the S300 Kaimu, the designs call to the wrist of both men and women with 40mm diameters, rose gold accents and automatic winding movements.
The Bremont Supermarine has become one of the brand’s flagship pieces, first launched in 2009 with the intention of combining the brand’s formidable history in aviation with dive specifications. The result has seen an extensive list of durable and robust sports watches, some with complications like chronograph and GMT and all with a minimum of 300 metres water resistance, highly legible dials and unidirectional rotating bezels. Just in time for the summer, the Henley-on-Thames manufacturer now launches two additional models to the collection, the Bremont Supermarine S300 Vigo and the S300 Kaimu. The designs draw inspiration from two coastlines around the world, both which hold sentimental value to Bremont Co-Founders Nick and Giles English.
Starting with the Bremont Supermarine S300 Vigo watch, this crisp white and steel timepiece is designed to evoke the sands and clear waters of its namesake Spanish coastline in north-western Spain. It is one of the places the Bremont brothers sailed as children aboard the Lady K– a boat recently commemorated in a duo of Bremont Lady K Ladies watches – which was built by hand by their father and gifted to their mother. The boat took the family on an epic six month sailing trip around Europe where they discovered the Mediterranean coastline, including that of the Vigo region.
While the S300 Vigo watch opts for a white ceramic bezel insert, matching white dial and white leather strap, the Bremont Supermarine S300 Kaimu switches out the white for accents of black to evoke the volcanic black sand beach of Kaimu in Hawaii. Visited by Nick English and his wife Catherine on their honeymoon, Kaimu is situated on the Big Island and is renowned for its dramatic black sand which is a result from the 1990 eruption of the nearby Kilauea volcano. The jet black hue is replicated on the ceramic insert bezel, the black alligator embossed calfskin leather strap and on the dial which like its counterpart features a sunray brushed dial ring, a raised centre with stunning applied tapestry and contrasting rose gold Superluminova hardware.
Both Bremont Supermarine S300 watches elect much of the same specifications including 40mm stainless steel cases engineered using the brand’s legendary Trip-Tick case construction. The cases feature a scratch resistant PVD treated case barrel, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and sit at a height of 13mm. The bezel allows for safe dive excursions with polished raised markers for the 60 minute scale and a Superluminova marker at 12 o’clock. We’re also guaranteed a 300 metre water resistant rating thanks to the screw down crown and stainless steel screwed case back. You can also swap out the leather straps of either Bremont Supermarine S300 Vigo or S300 Kaimu watch with a three-row link stainless steel bracelet.
Powering the Bremont Supermarine S300 Vigo and Kaimu watches is the Calibre BE-92AV automatic winding movement which takes its base from the well-known ETA 2836-2. It features a Glucydur balance wheel, Anachron balance spring and Nivaflex mainspring for enhanced precision and reliability and provides a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, 25 jewels and a healthy power reserve of 38 hours. As for functionality, we’re offered classic central hands for the hours, minutes and seconds and a square-shaped date window at 3 o’clock.
