For the last few years, Bell & Ross has focused heavily on their BR 05 integrated sports watch – and rightly so. The urban-inspired, rounded square-cases, perfectly flat surfaces and effortlessly integrated bracelets have made them hugely popular with Bell & Ross collectors. But, while the BR 05 has taken much of our attention, their more aggressive, square-cased BR 03 instrument will always reign as their original champion. As part of Bell & Ross’ Watches & Wonders 2023 releases, they’ve added a new dive watch into the collection combining warm hues of bronze and cream. Let’s take a look at the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze watch…
Bell & Ross launched their first BR 03-92 Diver watch in bronze back in 2018, at the height of the “bronze watch trend”. The original paired its patina-pending case with a traditional black dial and from then on, a model was launched every year with a different coloured dial. 2019 saw the unveiling of the BR 03-92 Diver Bronze Green watch while 2020 paired the bronze case with a navy blue dial. Then there was the red display of 2021 and last year was all about the chocolate dial. Now in what might be one of their best colour pairings yet, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze watch adds in a warm, opaline silver display with a pearl-like iridescence.
For the case, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze watch delivers all the spec we’re familiar with. The case measures in at 42mm by 42mm in the iconic square-shape and is almost entirely engineered from CuSn8 bronze, an alloy made of 92% copper and 8% tin. It has a gorgeous warm lustre and as is common with bronze watches, a patina will develop over time as the metal reacts to moisture in the air and on your skin. The lugs, crown guards and unidirectional rotating bezel are also crafted from bronze; it is only the rubber insert on the crown and the stainless steel case back left free. The bezel is topped by a brown anodised aluminium insert with a 60 minute scale which sits beside sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment.
As aforementioned, it is dial of the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze watch that is the novelty here. The Swiss watchmaker calls the dial “white” but we’re more inclined to call it cream as the silver opaline finish gives it a creamy, warm-toned hue. The dial also has a subtle sparkle to it and in lights has the iridescence of pearl. Playing off the warm tones of the case, the dial comes dressed in rose gold-plated hardware for the rounded hour markers and central hands for the hours, minutes and seconds. All of the hardware is fitted with inserts of glow in the dark Superluminova for effortlessly readability in low lighting and a date window is added between the 4 and 5 o’clock marker.
Another familiar sight for the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze watch is the movement housed inside. The BR-CAL 302 automatic winding movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds and date function as well as provides a 38-hour power reserve, 25 jewels and a frequency of 28,800vph. Completing the watch is an interchangeable brown calfskin leather strap with contrasting cream stitching and a bronze pin buckle. With every order, you’ll also receive an additional black rubber strap.
