G-Shock British Army MudMaster Limited Edition Watch Review

Casio G-Shock recently announced they had become the official partner to the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) and much to everyone’s anticipation, they have finally revealed the first timepiece as part of the collaboration. The G-Shock British Army MudMaster watch is presented in a stealthy camouflage-inspired design and is one of the first MudMaster models to feature an updated version of the brand’s legendary Carbon Core Guard Structure. The piece is a limited edition, with the number of pieces yet to be confirmed, and will be released for wrists in April this year.

Since it has been designed in conjunction with the British Army and released as part of their partnership with the Military of Defence, it is no surprise that the G-Shock MudMaster British Army Limited Edition watch has been engineered to withstand the harsh environments endured by soldiers. Its special camouflage design is inspired by the multi-tone pattern found on the army’s uniform while its unbeatable specification and durable, lightweight case perfectly tributes their imperative nature for discipline, strength and respect. As requested by the British Army themselves, the model also features a stealthy black dial that remains incognito on the wrist.

Fully kitted out for any adventure, the G-Shock MudMaster British Army watch comes with an updated version of their Carbon Core Guard Structure. This technology was first introduced last year on other re-designed MudMaster watches and high-end G-Shocks and includes a resin case with carbon fibre coating for ultimate durability, toughness and weightlessness. The design also includes a slimmed down body with the removal of old button guards while keeping the same levels of robustness. This basically means that the G-Shock MudMaster British Army Limited Edition is still as strong and resistant to mud, water, dust and temperature as previous models in the collection but sits more comfortably on the wrist. That said, it still weighs 92 grams and has a 55mm case, so this isn’t a watch that will go unmissed.

Hidden within the case is where the true magic of G-Shock technology takes place. The 2 year life battery and its proven accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month powers an impressive range of smart features all accessible from the wrist. The G-Shock MudMaster British Army watch comes with Bluetooth functionality so you can connect the timepiece to your phone and have quick access to activity and location tracking, the Mission log feature which tracks your progress between points on a hike and many other incredible features. The watch itself also includes a Quad sensor (altimeter-barometer, thermometer, compass, step counter), a calorimeter, mode menu customisation, stopwatch, countdown timer, dual time zone function, sunrise/sunset time and alarm function.

To pair with the masculine aesthetic of the case and the camouflage pattern on the resin strap, the G-Shock MudMaster British Army Limited Edition watch comes presented in a special custom box decorated with the same pattern. The multi-terrain pattern, also known as MTP, has been used on the uniform and equipment of the British Army since 2010 so it makes perfect sense for the design to appear on the watch. The presentation case also includes the British Army emblem on the inside of the lid for an extra touch of comradery.
