Sinn 104 St Sa A B E Limited Edition Watch Review

With Sinn having made a name for themselves through their high-quality pilot watches, it is no surprise that there are an abundance of them to choose from. With so many within their collections, it’s not always easy to know where to look first. However, with the release of the new Sinn 104 St Sa A B E Limited Edition, the German watch manufacturer have made things easy by combining one of their most legendary pilot models with a stunning vintage blue aesthetic. It’s retro touches and uncompromising specs make it a must-have timepiece for fans of vintage-looking aviation watches.

Like most Sinn pilot watches, the Sinn 104 ST Sa A B E is inspired by historic cockpit navigation clocks still found in many planes today. The watch promises to reflect their perfect readability and high standards of accuracy within its automatic movement and dial. When compared to the black 104 St Sa model released last year, there are no crucial changes made to the overall specifications – something that we are sure most of you are pleased about. The main improvements come from the aesthetic including a breathtaking dark blue sunray brushed pattern dial, blue aluminium bezel insert and retro ivory coloured Arabic numerals and hands. The overall vintage-inspired look is really cool and doesn’t go too far that it becomes gimmicky.

To compliment the military-retro look of the dial, the Sinn 104 St Sa A B E Limited Edition is presented with two strap options. The first in grey and the second in light brown, both crafted from canvas leather and fitted with a classic stainless steel pin buckle. The 41mm stainless steel case remains faithful to the original Sinn 104 design with scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, a screw in crown and water resistant rating of 200 metres. The dial is also decorated with luminescent colour on the hands and numerals for easy legibility in low lighting.

Housed within the case is the loyal SW 220-1 automatic mechanical movement, a Swiss calibre which provides central hands for hours, minutes and seconds, a day and date display at 3 o clock and a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. You can witness the beauty of the automatic movement through the sapphire crystal case back where the oscillating rotor spins with every movement of the wrist. The rotor is also engraved with the words ‘Eine von 1000’ referencing the model’s limited edition run of 1,000 pieces.

We know the name is a bit of a mouthful, but we are certain those of you looking for a new aviation watch with a sophisticated vintage-inspired aesthetic won’t be let down by the Sinn 104 ST Sa A B E. The timepiece is expected to be released in March at a retail price of £1,285 but you can be one of the first to take delivery by pre-ordering at Jura Watches. Their free delivery and interest free finance options make the purchase even more tempting!
