Seiko Prospex PADI Solar SNE435P1 Watch Review

Seiko are famed for the distinctive diving watches that are not only ideal companions for underwater adventures but look good sat at a desk or beside the sleeve of a suit. Their newest collaboration with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) is their Seiko Prospex PADI Solar SNE435P1 watch, a breath-taking special edition powered using natural and artificial sources of light.

First founded in 1966 , just a few months after the first Seiko divers watch was released, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors became the world’s largest scuba diving training organisation that ensures the safety and enjoyment of divers while protecting treasured marine environments. Through a shared passion for both diving and marine conservation, Seiko have partnered up with PADI once again to bring us the stunning Seiko Prospex PADI Solar SNE435P1 watch.

The Seiko Prospex PADI Solar SNE435P1 watch sets itself apart with its incredible V157 Solar powered calibre which boasts a 10 month power reserve once its fully charged and an accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month. The calibre equips the diving timepiece with hour, minute and seconds function and a large date calendar feature at 3 o clock enhanced by a magnified glass window. The movement is also fitted with a special overcharge prevention function to avoid damage and overheating to any components.

The case of the Seiko Prospex PADI Solar SNE435P1 watch measures to a neat 43.5mm in diameter and 11.59mm in thickness allowing it to sit elegantly to the wrist like a dress watch while still boasting an exceptional divers aesthetic. The stainless steel case is paired with a nautical blue ratcheted unidirectional bezel decorated by a 60 minute scale and a triangular pointer used for measuring oxygen levels while underwater. For those who want to use the PADI Solar SNE435P1 watch for its intended purpose, it has a water resistance of 200 metres making it suitable of scuba diving.

The recognisable blue and red colours of the PADI logo are used to decorate the dial of this Seiko Prospex PADI Solar SNE435P1 watch including the screw down crown, hour hand and tip of the second hand which are decorated in a bold red to contrast beautifully to the rest of the blue design.
