Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211G Watch Review

Grand Seiko has listened to the masses and released a new Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211G watch, a stunning design that has been updated to reflect the Japanese manufacturer’s recent re-branding. The previous model, the SBGA011J, was ridiculously popular and many will have found it almost impossible to get their hands on one – and if they did they probably had to wait a while. So when Grand Seiko revealed the brand new SBGA211G model at this years Baselworld, customers, retailers and watch enthusiasts were jumping for joy.

As far as we can tell, the majority of the features of the new Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211G watch are exactly the same as the original. However, they have now removed the ‘Seiko’ logo from 12 o clock and replaced it with the ‘Grand Seiko’ accent instead, something I’m sure many of you are pleased about. I’m sure some may argue that the blank space where the Grand Seiko logo once was now looks a little bare, but to me the design is much cleaner, smarter and boasts a much more luxurious appeal.

The new SBGA211G vs the SBGA011J

Now to get into the specs, the Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211G watch still showcases the famous Grand Seiko 9R65 Spring Drive automatic movement which promises an accuracy of +/- 1 second and a power reserve of 72 hours which is also displayed on the dial by a sophisticated power reserve indicator. The 41mm wide and 12.5mm thick case is made from high density titanium making it irresistibly light and durable. The centerpiece dial continues to be inspired by the snow topped mountains surrounding the Grand Seiko factory in Japan and offers a breathtaking finish that subtly glistens on the wrist.

There has been a slight price increase on this model, bringing the total to £5,750 but I feel like the exquisite detail and work that goes into each of these is worth every penny. The new Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211G watch is expected to be released sometime this month and if this is going to be as popular as the last we highly recommend placing your pre order now.
