Grand Seiko Hi Beat 36000 Diver Limited Edition SBGH257 Watch Review

One of our favourite and most unforgettable models unveiled at Baselworld 2017 was the Grand Seiko Hi Beat 36000 Diver Limited Edition SBGH257 watch. Any watch enthusiast will know that the Seiko brand are renowned for their extraordinary timepieces, particularly their divers models like the newly released Samurai and Turtle which have had plenty of attention. But now, Grand Seiko have revealed a high end, luxury, 600 metre water resistant high beat dive watch with some serious appeal.

So what exactly is so special about the Grand Seiko Hi Beat 36000 Diver Limited Edition SBGH257 watch? Well, this model houses the mechanical hi beat 36000 caliber 9S85 which many may have already heard of since it has been used in some of their other popular models like the SBGH019 and the SBGH037. But for those who haven’t, it is an exquisite movement that has managed to refine an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day while still holding a power reserve of over 55 hours.

The distinctive high intensity titanium case is possibly not one for dainty wrists measuring at a bold 46.9mm in diameter and 17mm in thickness but its distortion free mirror finish has been polished using the brands famous Zaratsu technique and the 60 minute bezel has intricate groove detailing to ensure a firm grip even with bulky diving gloves.

The dial of the Grand Seiko Hi Beat 36000 Diver Limited Edition SBGH257 watch is truly memerising and is decorated in a stunning deep sea blue that has become to signature colour of the Grand Seiko brand. The dial is made of pure iron providing a magnetic resistance of 16,000 A/m while luminous markers are set at each ten second point to ensure quick and effortless readability on deep diving excursions.

Following the trend of divers watches, the Grand Seiko Hi Beat 36000 Diver Limited Edition SBGH257 watch not only comes with its intended titanium bracelet but features a spare sea blue silicon strap which can be easily swapped over.
