Together they travelled 45,755km in 19 days, 21 hours and 55 minutes, before landing in the Egyptian desert on 21st March of that year. The pair were well kitted out with a Breitling sponsored hot air balloon and two Breitling Emergency watches strapped to their wrists.
The record breaking flight is beautifully commemorated on the screwed down titanium case back of the Breitling Cockpit B50 Orbiter watch which comes decorated with an image of the Orbiter 3 balloon superimposed on a globe and surrounded by the words “First Non-Stop Flight Around The World – 20th Anniversary”. Beside the engraving is also the limited edition number out of 213 pieces and the watch’s water resistance rating of 100 metres.
The Breitling Cockpit B50 Orbiter Limited Edition continues to impress with its beautifully crafted 46mm case engineered from lightweight black titanium fitted with a bidirectional bezel with compass scale and luxurious cambered sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. Hidden within is the remarkable Breitling B50 Manufacture SuperQuartz thermocompensated quartz electronic movement which is considered one of the most accurate Swiss made quartz calibres in the industry thanks to its chronometer status.
The quartz movement equips the Breitling Cockpit B50 Orbiter watch with an incredible range of analog and smartwatch functions including a 12/24 hour LCD digital display, a battery state-of-charge indicator, perpetual digital calendar with weeks indication, a countdown timer, two daily alarms and an additional UTC world timer function. We also treated to impressive chronograph functionality displayed on the digital window which includes fly back function, electronic tachymeter, lap timer and flight times.
