Introducing the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Watch Collection

The Tonda PF watch from Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier receives a sporty upgrade as it combines its elegantly integrated architecture with modern displays, restyled bezels and rubber straps. The new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport watch collection includes two models: a chronograph and a time-and-date automatic.

Parmigiani Fleurier are on a serious roll right now. The tides turned after Guido Terreni took over as CEO and completely overhauled the luxury watch brand’s catalogue. He helped breath life into existing collections while also inventing entirely new ones, an example of the latter being the definitively popular Tonda PF watch collection. Landing in 2021, the series cemented the brand as experts in the integrated sports watch, electing slender cases with seamlessly integrated bracelets, knurled bezels and beautiful grain d’orge dials. The new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport watch collection offers much of the same, combining the traits of the Tonda PF with the sporty characteristics of the Tonda GT line.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Automatic Watches

At first glance, the new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Automatic watches don’t look all that different to the Tonda PF Micro Rotor. But on closer inspection, you’ll notice some subtle traits that give these new designs a sportier edge. The first is the case which is slightly bigger at 41mm in diameter and 9.8mm in height. Its bezel is also slightly restyled. While previous regular editions of the Tonda PF handcrafted their bezel with 225 incisions, the Tonda PF Sports models offer 160 incisions for a bolder play of light.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Automatic watches are available in polished stainless steel or 18ct rose gold and offer much of the same spec as previous Tonda PF watches including screw in crowns, exhibition case backs, 100 metre water resistant ratings and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. On the hand, the designs are now joined by black rubber straps rather than bracelets, adding to their sportier vibes. The straps close by folding buckles in their respective case materials.

For the dials, their Tonda PF lineage is clear with a hand-guilloché ‘triangular nail’ pattern used across the surface. The same delta-shaped, skeletonised hands for the hours and minutes appear while the applied hour markers are now adorned with black Superluminova for added definition. A date window is also included at 6 o’clock and a central seconds hand is added. Powering the time-and-date function is the manufacture movement Calibre PF770 which with its double barrel offers a 60 hour power reserve. It also runs at a frequency of 28,800vph and like all of Parmigiani Fleurier’s calibres, it is beautifully finished and showcased through the case back. You can enjoy decoration like bevelled edges, Côtes de Genève striping and the Maison’s signature skeletonised winding rotor in 22-carat rose gold.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Watches

For the more technically advanced Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph watches, much of the same case details are the same. You can choose from models in polished stainless steel or satin-brushed 18ct rose gold with knurled bezels, screw in crowns, exhibition case backs, sapphire crstal glass and 100 metre water resistant ratings. Their core difference is their sizing, which to make room for chronograph movement within, is increased to 42mm in diameter and 12.9mm in height.

The dials of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph watches also showcase the same white hand-guilloché pattern but recessed black counters are added creating the coveted “panda chronograph” look. The skeletonised, delta-shaped are rhodium-plated or gold plated depending on the case material and pair with black Superluminova hour markers, the PF medallion positioned at 12 o’clock and a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The chronograph complication here is powered by the Calibre PF070, a high frequency 5Hz manufacture movement with an integrated column wheel chronograph with vertical clutch. It is also COSC-certified and offers a power reserve of 65 hours. Completing the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph watches is the same textured Cordura-treated rubber straps as the automatic models, secured by folding buckles in steel or gold.
