Introducing the Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl Watch

Over the last couple of years, the Doxa Sub 200 has become one of the most important divers watches on the market. Based on the brand’s legendary Sub 300 launched in 1967, the Sub 200 delivers the retro cushion-shaped case and vintage beads-of-rice bracelet, healthy water resistant ratings and a variety of funky dial colours all at an entry-level price point. Today, that list of dial colourways expands with the release of the new Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl watch with a fresh white face eager to accompany you during the summer months.

Before today, the DOXA Sub 200 collection was home to six beautiful dial colours known as the Professional (orange), Searambler (silver), Sharkhunter (black), Caribbean (navy), Divingstar (yellow) and Aquamarine (turquoise). Out of these, the DOXA Sub 200 Professional with the neon orange dial has remained a fan favourite ever since its release, wonderfully commemorating the original DOXA diving watches of the past designed to make reading elapsed time even easier under water, especially in comparison to the oversaturation of grey and black dials at the time. Now, a whole new level of legibility is achieved with the Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl. Its fresh white face is wholly unmissable, delivering a refreshingly sporty aesthetic deserving of its summer release date.

Suitably named the Whitepearl, the new Doxa Sub 200 watch follows suit to the rest of its predecessors in the Sub 200 collection differing only in its dial, bezel and strap colour. The crisp white dial blends in beautifully with the white sapphire bezel insert adorned with a contrasting black 60 minutes scale ideally suited to diving. The bezel is equipped to the classic 42 millimetre cushion-shaped case which ensures ultimate strength and resistance with its 316L stainless steel construction. Domed sapphire crystal glass treated with anti-reflective coating ensures instantly readability of the dial while a screw in crown and screw down case back promise a water resistant rating of 200 metres.

The dial layout of the new Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl watch also remains the same, boasting matching white Superluminova luminescent coated markers for the hours and Superluminova accents on the jet black hands for hours, minutes and seconds. At three o’clock, a matching monochrome date window is displayed bordered by a simple black box while the Doxa logo makes its mark at 12 o’clock. The minutes track is also printed in black.

Housed within the Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl watch is the ever-reliable ETA 2824-2 Swiss automatic movement. Perhaps one of the most well-known and recognized movements in the luxury watch industry, the ETA 2824-2 calibre carries 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph and a power reserve of 48 hours. Sadly, the movement isn’t put on display through the case back but instead we are treated to a handsome engraving of the iconic DOXA fish logo.

The Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl watch is currently available in three references. The first is arguably the most classic, placed on a stainless steel beads of rice bracelet with folding clasp (799.10.011.10). There is then the option of a white rubber strap, the first in size standard (799.10.011.23) and the second in size small (799.15.011.23). Both rubber straps are in the Whitepearl colour, printed with the DOXA signs on both sides and secured by a pin buckle. The Doxa Sub 200 Whitepearl watch on the metal bracelet retails at £950 while the rubber strap variant comes in a little cheaper at £910.
