Bremont MBII King Charles III Black Limited Edition Watch Review

Just last week, Bremont launched the first Bremont MBII King Charles III Limited Edition watch with a crisp white dial. It was limited to just 50 pieces, and unsurprisingly sold out in just a matter of hours. If you were one of the many that missed out, don’t worry, the Henley-on-Thames watch manufacturer has now presented an additional commemorative timepiece in celebration of the coronation of King Charles III. With a black dial and limited to 100 pieces, the Bremont MBII King Charles III Limited Edition can be ordered for a limited time at Jura Watches.

As one of Britain’s most prestigious watchmakers, it is no surprise that Bremont already has an extensive history with the Royal family. As their Armed Forces collection attests, Bremont has a long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and His Majesty’s Armed Forces and it is known that Bremont have had the privilege of presenting several prominent members of the Royal family with their own Bremont timepieces. Prince Philip for example was given a bespoke Bremont pocket watch as part of the celebrations for the late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2011. Bremont was also commissioned by Jaguar to create bespoke car clocks for Queen Elizabeth II’s fleet of Jaguar cars. The brand will also be part of the King’s Coronation flypast display taking place this Saturday 6th May 2023 with Bremont watches adorning the wrists of many pilots involved.

The sold-out Bremont MBII King Charles III White Edition

Bremont Co-Founder Giles English comments: “As a business we’ve been hugely honoured to be the sole luxury watch manufacturer for His Majesty’s Armed Forces since 2019 and have received various Royal commissions over the years. We’re thrilled to be celebrating the Coronation with these incredibly special timepieces and it’s lovely to see how well they have been received.”

As mentioned, Bremont has released two special MBII King Charles III watches in celebration of this weekend’s coronation. The first was a limited edition of 50 pieces with a white dial, but sadly for those interested, it completely sold out in a matter of hours. The second offers all the same specification as the first but opts for a classic black dial and is limited to a slightly higher number of 100 pieces.

The Bremont MBII King Charles III Black Limited Edition is based upon Bremont’s iconic Martin Baker or “MB” range which has been designed in partnership with the Martin Baker British Aviation Company, a company responsible for supplying 70% of the worlds Air Forces with fighter ejection seat technology. As such, these watches are known for being particularly durable and are equipped with an anti-shock movement mount and an inner soft iron antimagnetic Faraday cage to protect the movement from magnetic fields. The Bremont MBII King Charles III Black watch is also engineered using the brand’s famous Trip-Tick case construction for advanced toughness, crafted from stainless steel with a diameter of 43mm and a height of 14.5mm.

The Bremont MBII King Charles III Black Limited Edition’s case is complemented by a black knurled barrel and a patented inner bi-directional Roto-Click® bezel which can be operated by turning the crown at 4 o’clock. The crown at 2 o’clock manipulates the classic time-and-date display and is screw down, like the case back, to ensure a 100 metre water resistant rating. The steel closed case back is elegantly engraved with the official King Charles III Coronation Emblem which matches with an exclusive commemorative coin that is gifted with every Bremont watch purchase for the month of May whilst stocks last.

For the dial, the Bremont MBII King Charles III Black watch continues to honour the King’s coronation by adding in a gorgeous touch of royal purple on the seconds hand. The rest of the dial is familiar to the MB collection with the sleek black metal display punctuated by black framed, Superluminova-filled hands for the hours and minutes, large white Arabic numerals and a sloped minutes scale. Powering the hours, minutes, seconds and date function is the modified BE-36AE calibre, an automatic winding movement with 26 jewels, a Glucydur balance, Anachron balance spring and a Nivaflex mainspring. It runs at a frequency of 28,800bph and delivers a 38 hour power reserve. The movement is also chronometer certified. Finally, completing the Bremont MBII King Charles III Black Limited Edition is a black calfskin leather strap with black stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle.
