Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue Watch Review

For Watches & Wonders 2023, Bell & Ross adds a new GMT model into their popular BR 03-92 collection with a handsome navy blue dial and bezel. Let’s take a closer look at the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch

The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 series is the Parisian brand’s landing pad for cockpit-inspired instruments suited to all environments. The collection originally began as a tribute to the aviation dashboard counters clocks, offering robust and legible “circle-within-a-square” pilot’s watches for aviators and land-dwellers alike before eventually extending to include a range of water resistant diver’s watches with the same aesthetic. Then in 2016, the BR 03-92 set its sights on globetrotters by equipping its large numeral-dial with a GMT complication. One of our favourites of the latter was the 2021-released Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Red & Black watch with its clever two-toned 24 hour bezel. Mimicking this design but with a new blue colourway is the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch.

Just like the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT watch from two years ago, the new blue iteration under reference BR0393-BLU-ST/SCA features a sizeable 42mm by 42mm square-shaped case with curved, screw-accented corners and polished and satin-finished surfaces. A knurled crown, signed off by the brand’s “&” logo, offers a 100 metre water resistance and sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial. The Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch also presents the same bi-directional rotating bezel as before, but now one coloured in blue and grey. The aluminium ring is split into two, grey adorning the day hours of the 24 hour scale and the navy blue indicating the night hours.

Matching the colourway of the bezel, the dial of the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch is also finished in a handsome sunray blue finish and set with brushed applied Arabic numerals and hour markers and four large central hands. The hour and minute hands are typical in their sword-shape and set with Superluminova while the seconds hand is kept simple and straight. The GMT hand, however, stands out boldly against the rest of the blue and grey aesthetic with a large red-coloured arrow-shaped tip. The dial of the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch also includes a small rounded date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock marker, the printed Bell & Ross logo and lettering to attest to its GMT complication and 100 metre water resistance.

Hidden behind the solid screw down case back, the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch carries the automatic winding BR-CAL.303 movement based on the Sellita SW-330. Alongside the hours, minutes, seconds, date and GMT functions, it provides a power reserve of 42 hours and runs at a frequency of 28,800vph. Completing the Bell & Ross BR 03-93 GMT Blue watch is a blue calfskin leather strap closed by a standard stainless steel pin buckle. You’ll also receive an additional ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric strap with every purchase of the design.
