If you’re someone that lives for golf and you want a luxury multisport smartwatch that helps you tee off in confidence, keep reading…

GOLFING FEATURES

It would be wrong to start the review of the Garmin MARQ 2 Golfer anywhere but its golfing features. One of its most coveted apps is the Virtual Caddie which uses your shot data from previous rounds along with elevation, wind, and the layout of the hole to determine which club you should use and where you should aim on your next shot. It really is like having your very own caddie but on the wrist. There is also a separate wind speed and direction feature where you yourself can use the data to figure out which club to use and which direction to swing.

The Garmin MARQ 2 Golfer smartwatch trumps its predecessor with more preloaded golf courses than before. You’ll now get more than 42,000 full-colour CourseView maps from around the world. Thanks to the new AMOLED display (something we’ll get into shortly), maps like this are made all the brighter, crisper and more responsive. You’ll notice it on the green view feature too which gives you each green’s true shape from wherever you are on the course, and it allows you to move the pin for greater accuracy. The GoGreen app works great alongside this, giving you quick reference to the front, middle and back of the green, so you can make the shot you want. As always, you can also pair your Garmin MARQ 2 watch with the included Approach® CT10 club tracking sensor so you can track your use of the club, its location, distances and more.

The PlaysLike Distance feature on the Garmin MARQ II Golfer watch is equally as impressive by automatically adjusting yardages to account for uphill and downhill shots. The PinPoint app is great for blind shots, assisting you with the direction of the pin so you can make the most of your difficult swing. You’ll also get Hazard View which allows you to quickly scroll through each hazard on the map and get critical distance information so you know what to avoid and Green Contour Data so you can plan the best approach shot. With your active Garmin Golf app membership, you can also use this to see the slope direction of the green on select courses directly on your device.

CASE, DISPLAY & STRAP

For many, the biggest draw of the Garmin MARQ collection is its incorporation of premium materials like titanium, ceramic and sapphire crystal glass. The Garmin MARQ 2 Golfer is no different, promising a 46mm lightweight grade 5 titanium case and a gorgeous green ceramic bezel on top. As previously mentioned, the bezel is entirely tailored towards golfing with a clever 18 hole scale printed on the circumference. The luxury smartwatch also boasts sapphire crystal glass which protects a new feature for the Garmin MARQ 2 – the AMOLED touchscreen display. This is a major upgrade on the memory-in-pixel (MIP) display of the first MARQ, offering a pixel resolution of 390 x 390, brighter colours, deeper blacks and improved responsiveness. Completing the exterior of the Garmin MARQ Gen 2 Golfer watch is a Jacquard weave nylon strap in green.

FITNESS & LOCATION FEATURES

Despite its status as a luxury golfing smartwatch, the Garmin MARQ II Golfer can do so much more than help you on the green. It comes fully equipped for those looking to start their fitness journey. There’s a a wrist based heart rate monitor, respiration tracking, stress tracking, hydration tracking, advanced sleep monitoring and several features for reviewing your health and overall body battery. You’ll get preloaded sports apps for every activity you can think of including access to ski maps, animated workouts, Garmin Coach, a visual race predictor, PacePro technology and a new real time stamina function which tracks and manages your exertion to help you avoid overexerting at the start of your run or cycle. There’s also the same range of GPS features alongside a new feature Garmin calls SatIQ technology which works alongside the multi-band GNSS satellite systems to give you superior positioning accuracy in any environment while also optimising the device’s battery life. There’s also TopoActive Europe maps now preloaded with additional maps downloadable over Wi-Fi, turn by turn navigation and the popular-with-hikers ClimbPro feature.

BATTERY LIFE

Another new trait for the Garmin MARQ 2 Golfer watch is the battery life. While the original MARQ watches promised up to 12 days in smartwatch mode, the MARQ Gen 2 Golfer guarantees up to 16 days in smartwatch mode. We’re also promised up to 21 days in Battery Saver Mode, up to 42 hours of battery life in GPS mode and up to 14 days in GPS Expedition mode.

SOCIAL FEATURES

The Garmin MARQ II Golfer smartwatch keeps you connected to loved ones you’re out on the green with smart notifications for emails, texts, and alerts. You can listen to your favourite music at any time with access to streaming apps like Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music and storage for up to 2,000 songs. For when a new golf club or pair of gloves calls your name, you can make the most of the Garmin Pay feature which lets you pay contactless with the watch.
