Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition Watch Review

Born out of a collaboration between Sinn and the Gemeinschaft Deutscher Kommandosoldaten (also known as the association of German commando soldiers), the Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition watch was originally created exclusively for the members of the KSK to celebrate the unit’s 20th anniversary. The model was initially limited to 70 pieces but now Sinn have decided to release the design to the public with many of the same aesthetic and technical qualities, this time limited to 3,000 pieces.

The Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition watch isn’t something you are going to want to hide under your sleeve. It’s impressive 47mm case is crafted from bead-blasted German Submarine steel and the black hard coated bezel has been tegimented for the highest scratch resistance. The unit has been designed to be pressure resistance up to 100 bar and the inside of the case is filled with Argon gas to prevent any moisture from getting in.

Hidden behind the screw in case back is the ETA 2893-2 self winding movement. Boasting 21 jewels and 28,8000 semi-oscillations per hour, the calibre provides a truly powerful instrument with an array of useful functions. Not only does the Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition watch provide hour, minutes and seconds function and a small date display at 9 o clock but it is also equipped with an additional arrow-tipped hour hand showing a second time zone on a 24 hour basis. The second time zone, beyond being helpful on its own, also works well alongside the 64-mi bidirectional compass bezel.

For those wondering what the difference is between the 212 model given to the KSK special forces and the Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition watch that is now available to the public, you’ll be happy to know that not too many changes were made. Both designs are decorated with the emblem of the KSK in the centre of the dial and feature sword shaped hour hands. The only real notable difference is that the military version offered a slightly different dial with a green seconds hand while the public model is decorated in a bright red.

We always seem so easily impressed by Sinn watches and their new Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition watch has us in awe again. The German manufacturer seem to have an effortless way of producing highly impressive and sought-after instruments and with only 3,000 pieces of the Sinn 212 KSK Limited Edition watch being released, it is only going to make them more desired.
