Bremont ALT1-C Rose England Rugby Collaboration Watch Review

Bremont’s first release of 2020 is finally here! The remarkable Bremont ALT1-C Rose England Rugby watch marks the start of a five year partnership between the British watch manufacturer and the England Rugby Team and Twickenham Stadium as they become their Official Timing Partner. Both establishment’s pride themselves on their values of durability, precision and technical prowess so we have high expectations for the different special edition Bremont watches that will be released during the collaboration.

Bremont has already hinted at a series of special edition mechanical chronometers designed especially for the partnership. Intended for both the fans and players, the first release within the series – the Bremont ALT1-C Rose watch – has launched just in time for the Guinness Six Nations 2020 starting next week. This breathtaking timepiece is only the beginning as the luxury watch brand has also promised the Bremont name will be shown all around the Twickenham stadium through time-related match content and branded match clocks.

“Timing is key in rugby, so it’s great to have Bremont on board with England Rugby, supporting the game as the Official Timekeeper.” – Eddie Jones, Men’s England Head Coach

The designers have done have fantastic job at bringing the spirit of the England Rugby team to life through the iconic Bremont ALT1-C model. Its crisp white metal dial is subtly embossed with the symbolic England Rose on the two subsidiary dials while the Superluminova coated blue steel hands and contrasting red chronograph seconds hand tribute the St George’s Cross. On the dial at 6 o’ clock, the typically seen ‘London’ print found on other Bremont watches has been replaced with the more aptly suited ‘England’.

Housed above the dial is domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass treated with an anti-reflective coating for easy legibility. The glass sits neatly on a 43mm brushed stainless steel case hardened using the brand’s legendary Trip-Tick construction. The case is also fitted with a scratch resistant DLC treated case barrel and a screw down crown to assist in its water resistant rating of 100 metres. There are two strap options to choose from: a classic stainless steel bracelet with folding buckle or a stunning blue Nubuck leather strap with stainless steel pin buckle. The edition will also be presented in a special leather wallet adorned with red and blue stitching and an embossing of the English rose.

The sapphire crystal case back of the Bremont ALT1-C Rose England Rugby watch continues to impress as we are not only given a glimpse into the intricate workings of the chronometer certified movement, but a special edition decoration is included to commemorate the new partnership. The oscillating rotor is inscribed with the words ‘SWING LOW’ as a tribute to the Twickenham anthem alongside a gold engraving of the rose. The steel component of the case back also includes the water resistant rating, chronometer status and the brand’s logo.

“As we’re bringing more and more of our manufacturing capabilities over to the UK and have long since been training up our own workforce of watchmakers on British shores, we welcome the chance to support another English institution, particularly in the run up to the RFU’s 150th anniversary in 2021. Rugby is an incredibly tough sport, steeped in English tradition. Seeing Bremont timekeeping preside over the action at the iconic home of British Rugby, Twickenham, is something rather special.” – Giles English, Co-Founder of Bremont

The Calibre BE-50AE automatic winding movement powers each of the functions on the metal dial including central hands for hour, minutes and chronograph seconds, a date window at 6 o’ clock and two subsidiary dials for 30 minutes counter and continuous seconds. The 24 jewelled movement also promises a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a power reserve of 42 hours and has been chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standard.
