Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition Watch Review

For a number of years now, Oris have been making a significant effort to bring awareness and raise funds for coral and sea life conservation. Their latest release, the Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition watch is another stunning divers model that is helping preserve the world’s endangered Staghorn coral.

This is not the first time Oris have created a timepiece to raise money for a marine conservation charity. Last year they released the Oris Great Barrier Reef watch and more recently the Oris Aquis Hammerhead watch. Now the Swiss watch brand are concentrating on the threats of the world’s coral reefs. According to reports, over one quarter of Staghorn coral has already been damaged beyond repair due to careless tourism, over-fishing and bleaching and the reefs that remain are in danger of meeting the same fate. But in an attempt to stop this from happening, Oris have released the Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition watch and through every sale of this stunning timepiece, the brand will be supporting the charities that work to preserve it.

Onto the watch itself, the high performing divers model boasts a 43.5mm multi piece stainless steel case and screw in security crown and a diver’s uni directional rotating bezel with a polished black ceramic insert with an orange and white minute scale. Like most limited edition Oris watches, the case back has a breathtaking engraving to commemorate its cause and on this Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition watch an embossed Staghorn coral decoration and limited edition number can be found.

The divers watch is powered by the Oris 735 calibre (based on the Sellita SW 220-1), an automatic movement that provides a date window at 6 o clock and the weekdays displayed through seven apertures on an inner circle. The deep blue dial is reminiscent of the ocean while the bold orange accents that are found on the central seconds hand and bezel’s zero marker reflect the colour of the Staghorn coral that the watch proudly immortalises. To complete the divers aesthetic, the Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition watch is available on a black rubber strap or for those looking for something a little more dressy, you can also order the model on a polished stainless steel bracelet.

There are only 2,000 pieces available to order of the Oris Aquis Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition watch, so make sure to pre-order yours now to get delivery of it when it is released in August 2017.
