Case & Strap Options
Before we dive into the techy stuff, let’s first introduce you to the three variations of the Montblanc Summit 3. The full trio are engineered from titanium, a material renowned for its scratch resistance and lightness on the wrist. Model MB129268 is crafted from uncoated titanium and pairs with steel pushers and crown and a black leather strap. A second under reference MB129267 opts for black coated titanium for a contemporary look and the same black leather band. The last model MB129269 is a stunning bi-colour edition with a black coated steel bezel and chronograph pushers, plain titanium for the main case and crown and a green leather strap.
As for dimensions, the cases of the Montblanc Summit 3 come in slightly smaller than their second generation predecessor with a thickness of 14mm and a 42mm diameter. This compares to the 14.3mm height and 42mm width of the Summit 2. We’re also promised a water resistant rating of 50 metres and sapphire crystal glass treated with a layer of anti-reflective coating. With each Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch, you’ll receive an additional black rubber strap which like the leather bands are closed by stainless steel pin buckles. These can be easily swapped around thanks to Montblanc’s quick change strap system.
Technology
Despite its decreased case size, the new Montblanc Summit 3 watch comes with a bigger display than before offering a screen size of 1.28 inches compared to the 1.2 inches of the Summit 2. The display is still AMOLED so instant readability is guaranteed but this is now paired with an even better resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. To control the display and the mass of functions inside, you use the three mechanical buttons on the right hand side of the case.
The real novelty of the Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatches is the new Wear OS by Google 3.0. The operating system was unveiled just over a year ago and until now had only debuted in a single Samsung device. It brings a 30% increase in performance, slicker animations and increasing loading time for apps. We’re also promised an improved battery life of around 24 hours and better compatibility with iOS devices. The Wear 3.0 pairs with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, a 1GB memory, 8GB storage and Bluetooth 5.0.
Smart Features
Included in the mass of features on the Montblanc Summit 3 are an improved heart rate monitor, which now promises more accurate tracking, an integrated microphone, barometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, Wi-Fi connectivity and an NFC payment feature. You’ll also get Google apps like Google Maps, Google Play and Google Pay, sleep tracking, Pulse Ox sensor, distance tracking and several activity profiles for a variety of sports and workouts.
