Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Edition Watch Review

For the first time, Swiss watch manufacturer Frederique Constant reveals their famous Worldtime watch with 9 different languages displayed on the city disc. The design marks 10 years since the launch of the original Frederique Constant Worldtime watch and is part of a 100 piece limited edition run. As exclusive UK stockists of the Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Edition, Jura Watches/Horologii gets hands-on with the design and reveals all…

The Case

The main novelty of the new Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Edition watch is its dial and its new pastel blue colourway and range of languages on the city disc. Before we get to that, let’s first take a look at the case. Previous Frederique Constant Worldtime watches have always been insanely elegant in architecture and the new 100-piece limited edition is no different. It follows suit to the recently launched steel and rose gold Frederique Constant Worldtime watches from last month also unveiled in celebration of the design’s 10th anniversary.

For the new Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Edition, stainless steel makes up the 42mm diameter including the smooth polished unadorned bezel, curved lugs and onion-shaped crown at 3 o’clock. On top, the luxury wristwatch presents high quality sapphire crystal glass treated with anti-reflective coating and on the back, further sapphire crystal reveals a glimpse into the automatic winding movement inside. We’re also warranted a 30 metre water resistant rating.

The Dial

Now onto the main event… In commemoration of the design’s 10th birthday, Frederique Constant debuts its first ever Worldtime watch with a city ring adorned with the 24 cities in 9 different languages. These include English, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Brazilian. The city ring is dressed a gorgeous pastel blue hue while the cities are printed in contrasting white. To match, the iconic globe centrepiece is also adorned in blue and white, the former depicting the world’s landmasses and the latter illustrating the ocean. The finish is nothing short of stunning.

The dial of the Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Limited Edition watch also reveals a two-toned 24 hour disc in the same blue and white palette and a rather unexpected, yet perfectly suited, date counter at 6 o’clock. The rounded date indicator is finished in gorgeous white guilloche and is set with a slender blued steel hand. The central seconds hand also comes in a navy blue and joins two needle-shaped hands for the hours and minutes, both adorned with glow in the dark Superluminova.

The Movement

Through the sapphire crystal glass case back, the Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Limited Edition reveals their FC-718 automatic winding manufacture movement, the very same that has powered many of the previous Worldtime models. The calibre is equipped with the brand’s innovative three-notch system which allows you to adjust different complications at each stage. Pulling the crown out once allows you to wind the watch. A second notch and turning upwards permits changing the date while downwards alters the reference city. Lastly, a third pull of the crown adjusts the central display. Calibre FC-718 also impresses with 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph and a power reserve of 38 hours.

The Strap

Completing the Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Limited Edition watch is a luxurious navy alligator leather strap adorned with contrasting white stitching. The strap closes by a classic folding buckle engineered from polished stainless steel to match nicely with the case.
