No strangers to industrial inspired timepieces, SevenFriday have released another striking addition to their Q Series collection with the SevenFriday Choo Choo watch inspired by the power and beauty of locomotives.
In fact, SevenFriday were taken back to 1842 when Queen Victoria became the first monarch to travel by train. It was the striking contrast between the raw mechanical dominance of the engines and the rich leather and dark mahogany of the royal carriages that sparked the inspiration for this extraordinary timepiece.
The deep brown tones and bronze accents of the SevenFriday Q2/03 Choo Choo watch make us wish we could travel back in time to experience the original setting of the railway and hear first-hand the pumping pistons and the heavy ringing of machinery. The dark leather strap has also been beautifully decorated with vintage-like stitching and accents to emphasise its worn, industrial-like feel.
The dial of the SevenFriday Q2/03 Choo Choo watch is just as exquisite as any other Q Series model but this time it has been fused with elements from train driver dials and other locomotive apparatus. It’s multi-layered design boasts a decentralised 12 hour plate, metallic grey am/pm indicators, a polished black hour hand, a minute disc with metallic tracks and numbers, a seconds disc and a sandblasted metallic calendar window at 3 o clock. Powering each function is the Miyota 8219 automatic movement which also promises a power reserve of 40 hours.
The case measures to 44.3mm by 49.7mm and is crafted from sandblasted stainless steel while its smooth bezel has been polished with a gun metal PVD coating. The striking contrast of the polished gun metal bezel and the grey and copper dial beautifully highlights the distinction between the industrial and the luxurious. The case is also fitted with special hardened anti-reflective mineral glass and a closed case back with a water resistance of 30 metres.
