Obaku Harmony watches are loaded with conscience.
The Obaku brand may only have been introduced two years ago, but now the brand has worldwide appeal. The last two years have been a difficult time to launch a new brand, but Allan Jensen, Obaku’s brand manager, says “I think it is [our] combination of great design, a timely message and good price points that has brought us to where we are.” And Obaku has two powerful messages.
Every year over a billion new watches are sold worldwide. And most of these have batteries that contain environmentally damaging mercury and lead. Obaku is taking a first step towards a more ‘green’ solution for all their watches. From now on, all their watches will be produced with environmental friendly batteries.
And, in another move towards greater social responsibility, Obaku have joined forces with the non-profit organisation Refugees United; a charity that works towards reuniting refugees with their families. There are currently some 37 million refugees in the world.
Obaku have produced a specially designed ‘Obaku Refugees‘ watch, and donate proceeds from the sale of this watch to the charity.
