Landing just in time for the impending summer, Swiss watch manufacturer Hamilton extends their collection of dive instruments with a new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto watch. The design maintains all the beefed-up spec as the recently released 43mm series but with a fresh white dial, blue ceramic bezel and a steel bracelet to match the case.
Hamilton’s Khaki Navy Scuba watch collection has been a permanent line in the brand’s vast portfolio of air, land and water watches for several years now dutifully filling the role of the latter. We’ve seen the design in quartz and automatic with various dial, straps and bezel colours to choose from. It has solidly served as the entry-level range of diving watches by Hamilton. Several months ago, the brand then updated and upgraded the collection to include better specifications including ceramic inserts on the bezel, a larger diameter of 43mm and a water resistant rating of 300 metres (originally only 100 metres). Together, these elements have made the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba more powerful than ever and with their still incredibly accessible price point, these watches are putting their Swiss and Japanese competitors on notice.
Joining the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto 43mm series is a new white-dialled model under reference H82505150. It’s a stunning summer-ready piece “designed to inspire adventures in the sun, sand and sea.” The dial maintains the clean aesthetics of the rest of the collection but with a new blue steel treatment for a nice contrast against the paper-white backdrop. Blue steel makes up the long sword-shaped hands for the hours and minutes, the combination of round and trapezoid-shaped markers and the slender seconds hand which turns from blue to red at the tip. Much of the hardware is filled with Swiss Superluminova for additional readability in low lighting. The dial of the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto White watch also presents the new 24 hour scale inwards of the hour markers in black.
As for the case, the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto 43mm watch opts for classic stainless steel to engineer its 43mm wide diameter and height of 12.58mm. The finishing of the case alternates between brushed and polished surfaces. On top is the new ceramic insert bezel now finished in a handsome ocean blue tone to match the hardware on the dial. The bezel is unidirectional and presents a white 60 minute scale paired with a luminous triangle marker at 12 o’clock, all useful tools for measuring elapsed dive times. There’s also a closed case back, screw down crown with two crown guards and sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. The upgraded water resistant of 300 metres is also maintained.
Fuelling the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto 43mm White watch is the familiar H-10 automatic winding movement, the very same shared by other brands in the Swatch Group like Certina and Tissot but otherwise known as the Powermatic 80 Calibre. The movement is used by the Swatch umbrella for many reasons, but most notably for its impressive anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring and its lengthy power reserve of 80 hours. There’s also a frequency of 21,600vph, 25 jewels and indications for the hours, minutes and seconds.
Completing the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto watch is a three-row link bracelet which like the case is engineered from stainless steel and comes with a combination of brushed and polished finishings.
