NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki Watch Review

NORQAIN shows no signs of slowing down. This year alone, the Swiss watch manufacturer has announced industry legend Jean-Claude Biver as Advisor to the Board while launching innovative designs like the NORQAIN Wild One. The latter debuts the propriety material named NORTEQ recognised as being six times lighter than steel and three-and-a-half times lighter than titanium. For their next release, the brand turn towards another rare watch material, bronze, to launch the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch.

Joining the NORQAIN Adventure collection, the new Adventure Sport Bronze Khaki watch is a durable, sports watch for use outdoors. Like the rest of the designs in the family, it’s value-orientated offering a lot of bang for its buck, combining the do-anything sports aesthetic with a new patina-changing case and a textured military green dial. This marks the first time NORQAIN have used bronze on any of their Adventure watches, and in doing so are speaking to a whole new audience of collectors. Bronze, a material which has found massive popularity over recent years, starts off as a gorgeous warm coloured metal before eventually developing its own natural patina. The more you wear the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch, the more the case metal will slowly age and change colour.

Other than the material used to engineer it, the case of the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch follows all the same design principles as previous models in the collection. Joining its 42mm diameter is a height of 12.65mm, 22mm lugs and an overall lug-to-lug distance of 50.2mm. It’s a decent sized watch, large enough to feel robust and sturdy on the wrist and yet still willing to slide under a shirt cuff. Like the stainless steel editions, a screw on plate is included on the left side of the case that you can engrave. On the opposing side, a screw down winding crown ensures a water resistance of 100 metres. Both the case and unidirectional rotating bezel are engineered entirely from satinated and polished bronze while the case back is crafted from stainless steel and finished with bronze PVD. Often excluded on a sports watch, the case back of the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch is also fitted with a clear sapphire window for admiring the automatic movement within.

Domed sapphire crystal glass is also utilised above the dial, protecting and allowing for easy legibility of the khaki green dial. Familiar dial design elements are captured on the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch as seen on previous models including the signature NORQAIN pattern decorating the surface. The combination of the khaki green and bronze is a winning combination and, in our opinion, only gets more beautiful the further along the patina develops. To match the warm case, the dial is adorned with bronze-coloured applied hours markers, a bronze NORQAIN logo and matching bronze hands. The hands and indexes are finished with beige Superluminova for readability in low lighting. The only real pop of colour on the NORQAIN Adventure Sport Bronze Khaki watch is on the tip of the seconds hand and on the lettering for ‘automatic” which is done in a vivid red.

Powering the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch is the Caliber NN08, an automatic winding movement based on the tried-and-tested Sellita SW200-1. It’s a 26-jewelled movement consisting of 80 components including a personalised NORQAIN oscillating rotor. We’re also promised a date complication, a power reserve of 38 hours and a frequency of 28,800vph. Finally, completing the NORQAIN Adventure Sport 42mm Bronze Khaki watch is a choice of four straps: a khaki green or black rubber strap or a khaki green or black two-piece fabric strap. All are closed by bronze PVD coated pin buckles.
