Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk Watch Review

When you combine the distinctively urban aesthetics of Bell & Ross’ famed BR 05 watch with a signature white dial and bold red accents, what do you get? According to the new Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk Limited Edition, it’s a striking luxury sports watch assuming just as much presence in the cockpit as it does out in metropolitan territory.

Since it’s launch in 2019, the Bell & Ross BR 05 collection has seen some significant growth. With what started as a series of classic three-hand models has now expanded into a range of chronographs, skeletonised limited editions and two-toned references. This year alone, the Swiss watch manufacturer has also released the BR 05 GMT, the BR 05 Diamond and the BR 05 Skeleton Gold, the latter being one of the most luxurious designs we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing over the last twelve months. Now the series invites a fresh new colourway to it’s chronograph with the release of the Bell & Ross BR 05 White Hawk.

Essentially, the Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk is identical to previous BR 05 Chronographs but instead introduces a new white dial (earlier iterations have been dubbed in black and black). The crisp snow-white backdrop is paired with several touches of red including a red-coloured chronograph seconds hand and a red tipped 30 minutes counter hand which together evoke the world of aviation, particularly the colours often seen on commercial aircrafts. The dial retains the same bi-compax layout as previous editions with rounded square counters and applied hour markers and hands finished in silver and treated with Superluminova.

As for the case of the Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk Limited Edition, we’re greeted with the same architecture we’ve come to expect from the urban-esque BR 05 series including the signature “circle within a square” layout, fixed stainless steel bezel with four screws at each corner and an integrated strap. The case measures in at 42 millimetres in diameter and 13.5 millimetres in height and comes with integrated chronograph pushers, a screw in crown at 3 o’clock, sapphire crystal glass on both sides and a 100 metre water resistant rating. The Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk is available on a choice of a black rubber strap or an integrated steel bracelet.

The sapphire crystal case back of the Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk greets us with another new feature, a special silver metallised image of a hawk alongside its limited edition status out of 250 pieces and the lettering “WHITE HAWK”. The back also presents a view of the BR-CAL.301 automatic winding calibre, a Swiss made movement based on the automatic modular chronograph calibre ETA 2894-2. The movement comes with a classic 360 degree oscillating rotor, 27 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph and a 42 hour power reserve.
