Baume et Mercier 2021 Watch Releases

Famed for their affordable collections of luxury watches for men and women, Baume et Mercier are one of the longest running Swiss watch manufacturers in the world with a history that expands over 190 years. Their expertise is based entirely on the principle of “établissage” meaning “establishment” which ensures every stage of creation of a Baume et Mercier watch, from the assembling of each component to the design of the dials and straps, is controlled in-house. It is for this very reason that Baume et Mercier watches remain so highly coveted by collectors and everyday wearers alike, and their 2021 Watches & Wonders releases were so closely followed. Let’s take a look at some of these Baume et Mercier 2021 watches in more detail…

Baume et Mercier Riviera Collection

One of Baume et Mercier’s biggest releases for 2021 was their new Riviera collection. The designs bring back to life the Swiss watch manufacturer’s original Riviera watch from 1973 which was cemented firmly in the steel sports watch craze of the time with a distinctive dodecagonal steel bezel, streamlined case and integrated bracelet. There are currently three main sub-groups of the Baume et Mercier Riviera to choose from: the Riviera Baumatic, the Riviera 42mm and Riviera 36mm. The Baume et Mercier Riviera Baumatic is quite simply magnificent, utilising one of the brand’s in-house BAUMATIC automatic winding calibres through a smoked sapphire skeletonised dial. Meanwhile, the 42mm variants boast uniquely patterned non-skeleton dial in blue or black and are powered by the Swiss made Sellita SW200 calibre. Lastly, the Baume et Mercier 36mm models for women offer a choice of an automatic movement or quartz calibre alongside screw or diamond decorated bezels and black, blue or silver patterned dials. Baume et Mercier Hampton Collection

The Baume et Mercier Hampton has been a permanent fixture in the brand’s luxury watch collections since its revival in 2011, and like the Riviera collection, takes inspiration from a historic piece in their archives, this time one from the 1920’s. The self-confident lines of the Art Deco period and the relaxed elegance of the era remains beautifully embodied within the series. As part of their Baume et Mercier 2021 releases, the brand have extended their Hampton family to include several new models for both men and women. There are three new men’s timepieces brought to life by three-hand self-winding movements. The first is a classic three hand model with hours and minutes at the centre while the second has a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The third also features three central hands alongside a big date function and a skeletonised second time zone display with day/night indicator at 6 o’clock. For women, there are six new Baume et Mercier Hampton models all powered by quartz movement and offering a new selection of dial colours including silver, blue, white mother of pearl, and our favourite, green.

Baume et Mercier Baume Collection

Another fresh collection for Baume et Mercier’s 2021 line-up isn’t one that takes inspiration from their past but one entirely new for the future. The Baume et Mercier Baume is characterised by three strong design codes: an interchangeable strap for optimal wearing experience, moving lugs and an off centre crown at 12 o’clock inspired by pocket watches, a design the Swiss watch manufacture was once awarded for in their past. The designs are also part of the brand’s mission to become more environmentally responsible dressed in natural materials such as cotton straps and recycled button interchangeable systems. Aesthetically, they are bright, bold and modern with minimalist dials with a coloured flange adorned in the same colour as the small seconds hand in blue red, violet, green or black. There are currently four men’s Baume et Mercier Baume watches measuring to 41mm in diameter and three ladies’ references measuring to 35mm. All our powered by a Swiss made quartz movement and engineered from stainless steel with a choice of yellow gold plating.

Baume et Mercier Baume Ocean Limited Edition

In extension to their Baume collection, they have launched their only limited edition of the year: the Baume et Mercier Baume Ocean Limited Edition. Available in two colours, green or blue, the designs like the core collection continue the brand’s mission to help the planet and are designed in collaboration with Waste Free Oceans (WFO) and SEAQUAL, two partners that collect plastic debris from the seas to transform them into innovative products. The dial is elegant, dressed in anthracite and then accessorized by a green or blue coloured bezel ring and matching hands. The case is almost entirely engineered from recycled plastic (about 80%) with the other 20% from fibre glass to ensure strength and lightweight wear and paired with an interchangeable strap made of woven RPET and lined with natural black cork. Inside, the piece is powered by the Swiss made Sellita SW200 automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours and a date window at 6 o’clock. 5% of every sale of the Baume et Mercier Baume Ocean Limited Edition will go to the Waste Free Oceans initiative.
