Garmin are really stepping out of the box this year to push back against brands like TAG Heuer and Breitling who have recently tried their luck with their own collections of luxury smartwatches.

Although the Garmin Instinct GPS collection was technically released just before Christmas, we couldn’t not include it in this Garmin 2019 watch releases feature since it has been getting so much attention. This striking outdoors watch is basically a combination of their Vivoactive 3 range with some of the Fenix features added in, becoming a great new choice for those looking for a timepiece that can join them on all their hiking and mountaineering adventures.
Garmin are really selling the reliability of each Garmin Instinct GPS watch which is available in six colours: Graphite Black, Tundra Silver, Flame Red, Sunburst Yellow, Lakeside Blue and Sea Foam Blue. The fibre-reinforced polymer case and scratch resistant display of each Garmin Instinct smartwatch has been chemically strengthened to add extra strength and durability while it’s thermal, shock and water resistance of 100 metres has been built to the U.S. military standard 810G. This means the smartwatch has undergone an astonishing list of tests including temperature, humidity, freezing rain, ballistic shock, acceleration, contamination and vibration tests.

It was difficult to imagine Garmin being able to improve their Fenix range much more after the first Fenix 5X was released. But of course, in typical Garmin fashion they innovated to the max and have released a trio of breathtaking Garmin Fenix 5X Plus smartwatches. These stunning outdoor GPS watches are filled with some brand new technologies including music storage, Garmin Pay and Pulse Ox Acclimation sensor and improved navigation sensors.
Each Garmin Fenix 5X Plus watch boasts a 51mm sized case and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass coming as standard with a full-colour transflective Garmin Chroma Display with LED backlighting. One model is crafted from lightweight titanium while the other two come in Slate Gray steel and Black steel. One of our favourite improvements to the Garmin Fenix 5X Plus watches is the new navigation sensors. As well as being equipped with three-axis compass, gyroscope and barometric altimeter and GPS and GLONASS multisatellite function, the Fenix 5X Plus also now includes Galileo satellite reception to connect even in most challenging environments.
