The Longines Heritage watch collection has always been a popular one with watch enthusiasts since each design not only draws its inspiration from century old models but they still maintain a contemporary technical prowess. Their newest addition to the collection which will be released in the winter of 2016 is the Longines Heritage 1918 watch, one of my all-time favourite releases from Longines this year.
Like all Longines watches from the Heritage collection, the Longines Heritage 1918 watch pays tribute to a past design. This one was inspired by the honey coloured ‘Bracelet Chronograph’ model that was released back in 1918 while its vintage style dial echoes back to the pocket watches from the same period. This watch truly brings to life the incredible beauty and craftsmanship that goes into each of their pieces, a quality that was established when the brand was first founded.
There are two variations of the Longines Heritage 1918 watch, a pair made perfectly for a ‘his and hers’ set. The male version is the L28094232 which boasts a round 41mm stainless steel case with a mirror-like finish, while the ladies model L23090232 has been sized down to 38.5mm and decorated with an unmissable array of diamonds. Both models showcase unique lugs that are barely existent and are kept neat and subtle against the wrist.
The elegant honey coloured accents and blue steel cathedral style hands look striking against the crisp white lacquered dial while the quirky shaped Arabic numerals bring a vintage aesthetic to the timepiece that I personally have completely fell for. The dial also showcases a date window at 6 o clock, a more contemporary addition that reminds us that even their Heritage watches are very much at the forefront of modern design. Housed within the case is the L615 automatic winding mechanical calibre that promises an impressive power reserve of 42 hours and a water resistance of 30 metres. To complete the Longines Heritage 1918 watch, a honey coloured alligator strap is added to complete the vintage aesthetic.
