Dietrich Perception Watch Review

If you have been reading Horologii for a while, you will know we have a deep, passionate love for weird and wonderful watches. Dietrich are a Swiss watch manufacturer that seem to have nailed this concept, especially with the upcoming release of their brand new Dietrich Perception watch collection.

Dietrich Watches have not been around for very long having only established in the last twenty years, but it hasn’t taken them long to rise to the top. They first became recognised with the release of the Dietrich OT watch and its distinctive futuristic aesthetic inspired by the unusual textures and geometric shapes found in nature. The new Dietrich Perception watch follows a similar style but with a much more sleeker, sophisticated finish and a brand new in house complication.

The idea behind the new Dietrich Perception watch comes from the brand’s own ideology of timekeeping. They decided that instead of focusing on the mathematics of time, they would concentrate on our perception of it and our relationship with every unique second that passes. This emotional awareness of time has been materialised into their release where some seconds are less than a millimetre and others are much larger.

There are two variations of the Dietrich Perception watch currently available, one with a silver opalin dial and another with a blue. The unique micro layered dial offers a stunning view into the brands first ever in house complication, a modified version of the automatic mechanical movement ETA 2824. The complication equips the timepiece with several functions including seconds display at 5 o clock and 24 hour indication at 9 o clock.

The timepiece measures to a bold 50mm in width and 14.5mm in height and is crafted from a polished stainless steel with an engraved case back. The blue Dietrich Perception watch boasts white Superluminova hands, indexes and hour indication while the silver Dietrich Perception watch showcases a black substitute. Keeping the instrument protected is a piece of custom cut sapphire crystal glass that has been treated with an anti-glare coating on both sides for easy legibility.

The Dietrich Perception watch collection is expected to be released at some point next month but you can place a pre-order for one now to get your hands on one of the very first. For more information on these watches and were to place an order, click here.
