TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01 Red Bull Watch Review

In one of the longest running partnerships, TAG Heuer has teamed up with Red Bull once again to bring us the new TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01 Red Bull watch, another special edition timepiece that proves the value of precision and accuracy in both timekeeping and motor racing.

Before Red Bull Racing, the motivation of the Formula One was simply to complete the course and cross the finishing line first. Now, Red Bull have now proved that the action that goes on in the pit is just as exciting as what is occurring on the course. The adrenaline and excitement of the Red Bull team was reflected in TAG Heuer’s own attitude when it came to designing their timepieces and thanks to the undeniable connection between watchmaking and motor racing it made sense for the two to pair up. For another year, TAG Heuer is also the Official Timekeeper, Official Watch Partner and Team Performance Partner for the Red Bull Racing, further solidifying their relationship.

The new TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01 Red Bull watch has been beautifully designed and boasts an unmissable skeletonised dial that seems to build up and out of the glass with its many intricate layers. The automatic movement that you can see delivers unmatchable precision with chronograph function, a tachymeter scale and an angled date feature between 3 and 4 o clock.

What I admire most about this particular model is that the Red Bull branding has been kept understated but is still evident in the familiar red and blue colour scheme throughout and on the case back where a special Red Bull decoration is engraved. Many of you will probably not be keen on the large crown and chronograph pushers but I actually think it pairs nicely with the bold styling of the dial and ceramic bezel. The crown has also been equipped with easy grip technology and fine brushed with the TAG Heuer logo adding a nice extra detail.

The designers have made sure that the bold skeletonised dial of the TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01 Red Bull watch does not eclipse its ability to tell the time. They have combined large Arabic numerals with red curved hand applied indexes, red polished counter hands and polished minute and hour hands painted in luminescence for easy readability even in the dark. There are two variations to order, with one coming on a classic stainless steel bracelet and the other on a blue leather strap with red stitching.

The TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 01 Red Bull watch is not expected to be released from the brand until March 2017 but if you want to make sure you are allocated one of the first special editions, we recommend placing down a pre-order deposit. You can do that here.
