The animation ring – which is basically SevenFriday speak for the outer case – is made from recycled nylon and has even been stamped with the familiar recyclable 7 logo. This is the first time I have heard of a luxury watch manufacturer highlighting environmental concern like this and as always, SevenFriday are standing out as an entirely exceptional and accomplished brand.
By giving luxury a conscience, it makes spending the retail price of £1,200 a little more acceptable. As well as the animation ring being made from recycled nylon, the SevenFriday S1/01 Industrial watch is also translucent so you can see the beautifully contrasting metallic blue PVD structural screws that keep the watch together, further accentuating its ‘industrial’ title.
The dial of the SevenFriday S1/01 Industrial watch is familiarly skeletonised allowing the wearer to be enchanted by the workings of the Miyota 82S5 automatic movement and to compensate for the bold inner mechanisms on show, large metallic blue hands are added so legibility remains effortless. Measuring to 47mm in size, the timepiece may be a little large for those with smaller wrists but its polished and sandblasted stainless steel case moulds to the contours of the wrist perfectly, making it a joy to wear.
